This Week from Mitch

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Holy wow! The season of Advent has ramped up. This time of year always seems to be so full of events and gatherings. It's fun, but I know in our family it can feel like a lot. I am sure many of you feel the same way.

I was reflecting on the busyness of the season this week. As I thought about it, I found myself looking forward in our calendar for times and spaces where Denise and I can find rest. One date immediately stood out to me: January 26-28th, St. Martin's Annual Kanuga Parish Retreat.

For years St. Martin's has been going to the mountains in Hendersonville, to gather as a church family, to pray, to learn, to hike, to play, to enjoy each other, and to build relationships. For families it is a time to unplug and reconnect, it is a place where our children can run and play. For adults it means relaxing by the fire in a cabin or the lodge, eating cookies, and the camp foods of our youth. It means conversation and fellowship, and yes, rest.

If you have never been to a Kanuga weekend with St. Martin's, I would encourage you to join us! In a world that seemingly spins faster and faster, it is right and good to have places in our lives where the spinning slows down. For me, that is what Kanuga is. Our parish weekend is a time of family, friends, fellowship, prayer, and love. I hope that you will consider joining us.

In Christ,

Mitch
